The Waterline
KITTERY, ME – While summer may have had its official kick-off on Memorial Day the actual start for summer in Kittery was some time in August. Even our long time boaters couldn’t recall a July as damp as the one just past. In spite of the gray skies plenty of folks got their boats in the water for the season and made the most of it. Ah Maine. The way life should be, most of the time.
Floats will be coming out in mid- October and all dinghy’s need to be out of the way by the 15th of the month. Please contact the Harbormaster if you need to make arrangements for more dinghy time at the dock. Failure to do so will result in the dinghy being put in time out and a $50.00 storage and removal fee imposed on the owner.
All be boaters transiting the back channel at the West end of the shipyard be advised. The Navy is installing the last of the barrier fence around the submarine dry-dock. The channel is greatly restricted in width due to the fencing.
Fair winds and following seas to Bill and Barbara Pike on their voyage south. Bill recently retired from the shipyard and with Barbara set sail on September 14th. I guess they got tired of shoveling snow.
