The Waterline
KITTERY, ME – August is here and so far it hasn’t lived up to it’s billing as a sunny warm and dry month. One boater remarked, “I’ve had as much water in my cockpit as there is under my keel at low tide”. Let us hope for brighter weather for the rest of the month.
Mooring assignments are moving ahead smoothly. We have assigned over seventy moorings this month! Several more should become available before the end of the season. The wait list is updated at least once a month and is posted at town hall, Pepperell Cove and the Harbormaster website. Names are moving up quickly on the list!
All boaters who keep a dinghy at Pepperell Cove should remember to keep their dinghies bailed out. Also remember that a 10’ painter is required for your dinghy. Non-compliance may mean the removal and storage of your dinghy with related storage fees.
No wake zone signs have been posted in Chauncey Creek, Back Channel and Spruce Creek. For the safety of your fellow boaters please observe the posted signs. You are responsible for damage and injuries caused by the wake from your boat. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Excise taxes are due for any boaters whose boat is in Maine for at least 75 days during the year. Out of state boaters and Kittery residents can pay their excise tax in person at the Town Hall offices at 200 Rogers Road.
