The Waterline
KITTERY, ME - This spring, Kittery lost one of it's own in a tragic fishing accident. Chris Tobey, long time lobsterman, was lost after his boat capsized while setting lobster traps. Two crew members including Mr. Tobey's son were rescued the next day. Chris will be remembered as an important and talented member of the Kittery waterfront community. This accident illustrates the tremendous risk that even the most experienced fishermen take each time they leave safe harbor.
Important Notice: All boaters should be advised that the Navy and Coast Guard are holding a joint exercise in the Piscataqua River from June 9 through the 13th. During that period, there will be several areas off limits to all boating traffic each day between 0800 to 1700 hours. A map of these areas will be posted on the harbormaster website later this week.
Any person whose name was removed from the mooring wait list may appear before the Port Authority on July 3rd to request reinstatement. Documentation of renewal for the previous two years must be provided in order to be reinstated.
I am completing my training with the Criminal Justice Academy and will return to full time duty on June 14th.
